Our friends at Komo News released this article today. According to my favorite weather geeks, Seattle only gets 822 hours of measurable rain a year. That means it is only raining 9.4% of the time! Seattle gets 36 inches of rain annually. Compare that to some other major US cities:
New Orleans – 64 inches annually
Miami – 62 inches annually
Atlanta – 50 inches annually
New York – 45 inches annually
Portland, OR – 39 inches annually.
Although Seattle is notorious for it’s miserable, never ending rain, we don’t even make the Top 10 list for rainiest cities in the US. If you noticed, Portland gets more rain than we do. I love it when we “beat out” our rival little sister city. 🙂
