There are a lot of unknowns when buying a house.
But what about the NOISE?!?!?!?!?
I personally MUST HAVE a quiet place to live. I work, live, play and sleep from home and I don’t want a lot of ruckus disturbing my peace and quiet. Often you when you buy a home, you are moving into a new-to-you neighborhood. Since you haven’t spent much time in this new area, how can you know what the local noise factors are?
- We have a lot of both road noise and air traffic noise in Seattle. This fun website allows you to punch in any address and get a rating on both road noise and air traffic noise for your specific property.
- You can also get a lot of unwanted noise from construction. The Seattle In Progress website can help you determine if any current or up-coming construction projects are near your new home.
- Or you can go old-school and just spend some time near the house. Have coffee at the closest coffee shop. Hang out in your car for a bit in front of the house at different times of the day. Or you can be really brave and knock on a few neighbors doors and ask what they wish they had known about the neighborhood BEFORE they moved in.
This extra effort will help ensure that you know what you are getting into and can enjoy some peace and quiet in your new home!
